MARSHFIELD – Jadon Nienast continued his hot offensive play, scoring a game-high 25 points to lead the Columbus Catholic boys basketball team to a 68-50 win over Owen-Withee in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division contest Friday night at Columbus Catholic High School.
Nienast, who scored 30 points in each of the past two games for the Dons, was on fire again as Columbus won for the fourth time in its last five games and for the third-straight outing.
Sam Wilczek added 11 points and Eden Jacobson scored 10 for Columbus Catholic, which is now 13-5 overall and 9-1 in the Cloverbelt East as it takes over sole possession of first place in the standings. Greenwood (8-1 Cloverbelt East) was idle Friday and the two teams will meet up at Greenwood on Feb. 6.
Caleb Geldernick and Logan Amacher each scored 11 points for Owen-Withee (3-8, 2-6 Cloverbelt East).
Columbus plays a nonconference game at Abbotsford on Monday.
