Spencer girls basketball edges Colby

COLBY – Zalexis Mannigel scored 12 points and Heavyn Kind added 11 to lead the Spencer girls basketball team to a 50-45 win over Colby in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Friday night at Colby High School.

Spencer improves to 9-8 overall and 5-7 in the Cloverbelt East with the win, and will finish its regular-season and conference schedule at Granton on Saturday. The Rockets open the WIAA postseason with Division 4 regional quarterfinal at home Tuesday against Abbotsford.

Emma Peavey had 16 points for Colby, which finishes its regular season at 11-8 overall and 8-7 in the Cloverbelt East. Colby hosts Stanley-Boyd in a Division 3 regional quarterfinal on Tuesday.
