MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield girls basketball team finished its regular-season and Wisconsin Valley Conference schedule with a hard-fought 64-57 loss to Stevens Point on Saturday at Marshfield High School.
Stevens Point was able to hold on by making 22 of 24 free throws in the contest as it wraps up its regular season with a 9-8 record and a 7-5 mark in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.
Lauren Strasman scored 19 points and Emma Jossie added 15 for the Panthers.
Maddie Michaelis made four of Marshfield’s nine 3-pointers and finished with 21 points to lead the Tigers. Danielle Minsaas and Abby Ongna each added 10 points for Marshfield (7-13, 3-9 Wisconsin Valley Conference).
Marshfield will play at WIAA Division 1 regional quarterfinal at La Crosse Central on Tuesday. Stevens Point opens its postseason with a D-1 regional semifinal at Hortonville on Friday.
