Marshfield boys hockey drops WIAA Division 2 regional final at Lakeland

MINOCQUA – Lakeland scored twice in the first 7 minutes and held off Marshfield 4-1 in a WIAA Division 2 boys hockey regional final on Friday at Lakeland Hawks Ice Arena.

J.J. Albee scored off an assist from Tyler Gillich, then Albee assisted Gillich minutes later to give Lakeland a quick 2-0 lead.

Tristan Reissmann scored for Marshfield, on an assist from Ethan Meissner, with 6:56 left in the first period to cut the Tigers’ deficit in half.

That would be it, however, for the Marshfield offense as Lakeland goalie Max Masayesva saved 20 of the 21 shots that came his way.

Following a scoreless second period, Max Toijala scored twice in the third period to finish off the scoring for Lakeland (10-4).

Cole Halvorsen had 33 saves for Marshfield, which finishes the season with an 8-11 record.

Lakeland will play a Division 2 sectional semifinal at Mosinee on Tuesday. The game will be live at zaleskisports.com.
