Spencer girls basketball dominates Granton

GRANTON – The Spencer girls basketball team finished its regular-season schedule with its second-straight win, a 48-20 trouncing of Granton on Saturday at Granton High School.

The Rockets ran out to a 32-12 lead by half and held Granton to just eight points in the second half to win going away.

Zalexis Mannigel had 15 points and Heavyn Kind added 13 for Spencer, which finishes the regular season at 10-8 overall and 6-7 in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division.

Kristin Strey led Granton (2-12, 2-9 Cloverbelt East) with eight points.

Both teams open WIAA postseason play Tuesday. Spencer will host Abbotsford in a Division 4 regional quarterfinal, and Granton will play a Division 5 regional quarterfinal at Marshfield Columbus Catholic.
