WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Stratford girls basketball team earned a share of the Marawood Conference South Division title with a 54-33 win over Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Monday at Assumption High School.
Stratford finishes the Marawood season with a 10-3 record, tied with Auburndale. Assumption ends up 8-3. Per conference rules, the three teams will share the Marawood South championship based on number of conference losses this season.
Breanna Ackley scored 22 points, and had 10 rebounds and three blocked shots, and Emily Hughes added 13 points for Stratford, which finishes the regular season with a 13-7 record.
Ainara Martin had seven points to lead Assumption (10-8 overall).
Both teams will open WIAA postseason play Friday. Stratford will be at Osseo-Fairchild for a Division 3 regional semifinal, and Assumption will host a Division 5 regional semifinal against the winner of Tuesday’s quarterfinal between Port Edwards and Greenwood.
