MARSHFIELD – Appleton East ended the game on a 14-4 run to defeat Marshfield 50-43 in a nonconference boys basketball game Monday night at Marshfield High School.
The Tigers led 39-36 with 5½ minutes to go, but only scored twice the rest of the way. East put the game away at the free throw line, making 6 of 8 free throws in the final 2½ minutes.
Gavin Fravert scored 15 points, Chase Hinson added 13 points, and Wyatt LeMoine grabbed 10 rebounds for Marshfield.
Marshfield falls to 2-16 this season after suffering its 11th-straight loss. The Tigers finish their regular-season schedule Thursday at home against Wisconsin Rapids.
Appleton East improves to 9-11. Thompson led the Patriots with 19 points.
