Columbus Catholic baseball opens season with win at Thorp

THORP – Columbus Catholic scored six times in the sixth inning to earn a come-from-behind 7-3 win over Thorp in a nonconference baseball game to open the 2021 season on Tuesday.

Thorp scored twice in the bottom of the first inning and held that advantage until the Dons scored onece in the fourth and erupted for six more in the sixth to earn the win.

Brock Bennington struck out five in 2 1/3 innings of relief to earn the victory. He also had a pair of doubles and knocked in a run, and Cole Timmler scored a pair of runs as well for Columbus Catholic.

Columbus will play another nonconference game at Chippewa Falls McDonell on Thursday.
