CHIPPEWA FALLS – Chippewa Falls McDonell scored six times in the fourth inning to break open a tie game and held on for a 12-10 win over Marshfield Columbus Catholic in a nonconference baseball game Thursday at Casper Park.
The game was tied 4-4 after three innings before the Macks erupted for six runs in the fourth. After Columbus responded with four runs in the top of the fifth, McDonell tacked on two more in the bottom of the inning to regain a four-run advantage.
Jadon Nienast had three hits and three RBIs, and Brock Bennington and Emmitt Konieczny each had two hits and two runs scored for Columbus. Grant Olson and Konieczny each added two RBIs for the Dons.
Columbus Catholic will play its home opener Friday at Hackman Field against Stevens Point Pacelli.
