Marshfield girls track opens season with second-place finish at D.C. Everest Quad

SCHOFIELD – Marshfield had 17 top-three finishes, including four event victories, and placed second in the team standings at the 2021 season-opening D.C. Everest Girls Track Quadrangular on Friday at Stiehm Stadium.

D.C. Everest won the team title with 129 points, with Marshfield second with 94, Stevens Point third with 28, and Wisconsin Rapids fourth with 17.

Event victories for Marshfield came from Leah Brown in the 400 meters (1:06.29), Eliana Kanitz in the 3,200 (13:01.81), Danielle Minsaas in the high jump (5 feet, 1 inch) and the 400 relay team of Ariana Smith, Ellie Jensen, Peyton Daul and Alexia Daul.

Marshfield’s second-place finishes were: Rylee Corteen in the 400 (1:08.54), Kairi Kim in the 3,200 (13:13.67), Lizzie Hanson in the 100 hurdles (18.27), Michaela Dick in the 300 hurdles (52.04), Sophie Nikolay in the pole vault (39-6), and the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 relay teams.

Marshfield will host a quadrangular on Monday against Merrill, Wausau East and Stevens Point in what will be the first track meet at Heiting Community Stadium.
