AUBURNDALE – Hailey Grimm and Ashlyn Grimm combined on a three-hitter as the Auburndale softball team improved to 3-0 this season with a 6-3 victory over Wausau Newman Catholic on Tuesday at Auburndale High School.
The game was the Marawood Conference South Division opener for both teams.
Faith Haferman had a two-run single in the first inning and an RBI single in the third, and Georgi Schmutzer knocked in a pair of runs in the fifth for the Eagles.
Hailey Grimm struck out two and allowed two runs in four innings to earn the win for Auburndale. Ashley Grimm snagged the save, striking out three and giving up one run over the final three innings.
The two teams will meet against Thursday at Sunnyvale Park in Wausau.
