WESTBY – The Columbus Catholic baseball team dropped a pair of games at the Westby Invitational on Saturday, losing to Fennimore 16-3 and host Westby 13-9.
Against Fennimore, Cole Timmler had two of the Dons’ six hits.
The Golden Eagles scored eight runs in the top of the first inning and added six more in the third on their way to a win in five innings via the 10-run rule.
The Dons led 5-3 after two innings against Westby, but the Norsemen responded with 10 runs during the next three innings to pull away.
Brock Bennington and Jadon Nienast each had three hits, Xane Adler had two hits, and Emmitt Konieczny had three RBIs for Columbus Catholic against Westby.
Columbus Catholic is now 2-5 this season and returns to Cloverbelt Conference East Division action Tuesday at Greenwood.
