MARSHFIELD – Caleb Guden had a bases-loaded double to plate three runs in the top of the fourth inning to push Medford to an 8-3 win over Marshfield in a nonconference baseball game Monday at Jack Hackman Field.
The game was tied 1-1 after three innings, with Carsten Jirschele delivering a sacrifice fly in the second inning for the Tigers.
Guden’s bases-clearing double put the Raiders (8-2) ahead for good.
Nick Urban had an RBI single in the fourth to cut the Marshfield deficit to two, but Medford created some distance with a four-run seventh.
Nate Retterath had an RBI single, and three more runs scored on a pair of two-out errors to put Medford on top 8-2.
Urban walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh to provide the Tigers (4-3) with their final tally.
Seth Mudgett earned the win for Medford, striking out four in four innings.
Marshfield hosts Stevens Point for a Wisconsin Valley Conference doubleheader Thursday starting at 4 p.m. Medford hosts Tomahawk on Tuesday.
