WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Hunter Wright threw a two-hit shutout and Auburndale scored in each of its five at-bats to defeat Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 10-0 in a Marawood Conference South Division baseball game Monday at Witter Field.
Wright struck out six and walked one, scattering a pair of singles in the five-inning complete-game effort for the Eagles (5-4, 2-1 Marawood South).
Auburndale’s first five runs, during the first three innings, on four Assumption errors and a sacrifice fly.
Carl Lundgren had an RBI double and Sloan Welch had an RBI single in the fourth, and Schuyler Gilhausen delivered an RBI double in the fifth inning, and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Wright.
Wright finished off the win with a scoreless bottom of the fifth to give Auburndale the win via the 10-run rule.
The two teams will play again Thursday at Auburndale High School.
