Marshfield girls win team title at Merrill Track Quad

MERRILL – The Marshfield girls won six events to win the team title at the Merrill Track & Field Quadrangular on Monday at Merrill High School.

Marshfield tallied 98 points, with Stevens Point second with 68.25, Merrill third with 57.25, and Wisconsin Rapids fourth with 48.5.

Stevens Point dominated the boys meet with 12 event wins and 130 points. Marshfield was a distant second with 55.83 points, Merrill third with 45.83 and Wisconsin Rapids fourth with 40.33.

Event winners for the Marshfield girls were: Sophie Nikolay in the pole vault (8 feet), Aubri Brown in the shot put (31-7½), Lizzie Hanson in the 100-meter hurdles (16.71 seconds), Michaela Dick in the 300 hurdles (50.74), the 800 relay team of Ava Baka, Samantha Ridgeway, Danielle Minsaas, and Casey Frankland (1:59.43), and the 400 relay team of Ariana Smith, Olivia Page, Alexia Daul, and Nikolay (55.29).

Wyatt LeMoine earned both of the Marshfield boys victories, winning the high jump with a leap of 5-8 and the long jump with a jump of 20-3½. He also finished second in the triple jump with a jump of 32-5¼.

Both Marshfield teams will be back in action May 17 at D.C. Everest.
