Columbus Catholic baseball come from behind to defeat Greenwood

GREENWOOD – Columbus Catholic overcame a four-run deficit with a seven-run fifth inning and defeated Greenwood 12-7 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division baseball game Tuesday.

Greenwood led 5-2 after three innings and 7-3 after four before the Dons got it rolling.

Columbus scored a run on an error, three on passed balls, another on a bases-loaded walk, and two on a double by Emmitt Konieczny to take a 10-7 lead after the big fifth inning.

Blake Jakobi did the rest of the Dons, throwing three shutout innings to finish off the victory.

Sully Whitford and Fletcher Bredlau each had two hits and two RBIs for Greenwood (3-4, 2-2 Cloverbelt East).

Both teams hit the road Thursday. Columbus Catholic (3-5, 2-1 Cloverbelt East) plays at Spencer and Greenwood travels to Owen-Withee.
