LOYAL – Jadon Nienast had three hits, including a home run, and drove in four to help lead the Marshfield Columbus Catholic baseball team to a 19-2 rout of Loyal in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Tuesday at Loyal High School.
Columbus Catholic scored five runs in the top of the first inning and effectively put the game away for good with a 13-run third frame.
Nienast had a single and a double to go along with his long ball, and scored twice for the Dons, who have won five games in a row.
Emmitt Konieczny had a single, two doubles, drove in three runs and scored four times, and Brock Bennington and Sam Wilczek each had two hits in the victory for Columbus Catholic (7-5, 5-1 Cloverbelt East).
Matthew Szymanski hit a two-run homer for Loyal (0-7, 0-6 Cloverbelt East) in the fourth inning, the only blemish against Columbus pitcher Cy Becker, who gave up three hits in four innings on the mound.
Columbus Catholic will play at home against first-place Neillsville (6-0 Cloverbelt East) on Friday at 5 p.m. at Jack Hackman Field. The game will be live at zaleskisports.com.
