WAUSAU – The Marshfield softball team swept a Wisconsin Valley Conference doubleheader at Wausau East on Tuesday, winning 6-2 and 12-8, to improve to 9-3 this season.
Marshfield had its hitting shoes on in both contests, smacking 11 hits in the first game and 13 in the second.
Shyla Brogan hit a home run, Sandra Costa had a homer and three RBIs, and Loryn Jakobi and Brianna Jakobi both had two hits in the Game 1 win for the Tigers (6-2 Wisconsin Valley Conference).
Courtney Donahue threw a complete game for Marshfield, striking out 10 and allowing six hits.
Donahue also picked the win in Game 2, striking out eight in 4 2/3 innings.
Madalen Bornbach had a home run and four RBIs, and Brooklyn Bohman and Costa both had two hits to pace the way for the Tigers.
Kit Kronberger had a home run in the first game and Jess Nardi smacked a long ball in Game 2 for East (2-8, 0-8 Wisconsin Valley Conference).
Marshfield will host Chippewa Falls for a nonconference doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. Thursday at Madison Field.
