MARSHFIELD – Jenna Baumann scored twice in the final 24 minutes to give D.C. Everest a 2-0 win over Marshfield in a Wisconsin Valley Conference girls soccer game Thursday night at Heiting Community Stadium.

The game was scoreless until the 67th minute when Baumann scored to break the ice. She added another goal 10 minutes later to finish the scoring.

“We played so tough throughout the entire game,” Marshfield coach Steve Lindner said. “I cannot give enough credit to the defense as they stepped hard and won so many balls we expect them to win. This was great to see and these ladies were outstanding – Aly Dietsche, Becca Lossman, Samantha Kilty and Ainsley Hall did their job, and then there was Abby Ongna, who marked the best player in the conference who has been averaging over three goals a game.”

Clara Allar had six saves in goal for Marshfield, which falls to 4-4 overall and in the WVC. The Tigers host Wausau East at 10 a.m. Saturday.

D.C. Everest remains unbeaten in conference play at 7-0 (7-3 overall) with the road win.
