RIB LAKE – The Columbus Catholic baseball team erupted for 10 runs in the top of the sixth inning as the Dons pulled away for a 14-4 nonconference win over Rib Lake on Monday.

The Dons scored three times in the top of the first and added another in the second, only to see Rib Lake pull even with two runs in the first and single tallied in the fourth and fifth.

Suddenly, the Columbus Catholic offense was unstoppable as it plated 10 runs in the sixth. Blake Jakobi kept Rib Lake off the scoreboard in the bottom of the frame, ending the game due to the 10-run rule.

Will Schlafke allowed three runs in four innings, with Jakobi earning the victory with four strikeouts in two innings for the Dons.

Columbus Catholic had 11 hits, all singles. Brock Bennington, Emmitt Konieczny, Sam Wilczek, Cy Becker and Schalfke each had two hits. Konieczny, Cole TImmler, Becker and Schlafke all finished with two RBIs for the Dons.

Jordan Yanko had two hits for Rib Lake (7-6) and drove in a pair.

Columbus Catholic (8-6) plays at Owen-Withee on Thursday.
