SPENCER – The Neillsville softball team needed just seven innings to win two games as it defeated Spencer 17-1 in three innings and 22-0 in four innings to sweep a Cloverbelt Conference East Division doubleheader on Tuesday at ARC Park.
Neillsville had a 10-run second inning in Game 1 and a 10-run fourth in the nightcap to finish off both games via the 15-run rule.
Delaney Rochester picked up the win in both games, striking out five in six innings of work.
Terren Stockheimer and Lizzie Jorgensen each drove in three runs in the opening game for the Warriors (14-3, 9-1 Cloverbelt East). Kylie Boyer had five RBIs, and Emma Moseley and Stockheimer both had three RBIs in the second game.
Spencer falls to 1-13 and 1-8 in conference play.
Neillsville hosts Greenwood/Loyal on Wednesday in a game the Warriors need to stay in the race for the Cloverbelt East title. Greenwood/Loyal is 8-0 in the conference.
Spencer’s next game is Thursday at Marshfield Columbus Catholic.
