AUBURNDALE – Ashlyn Grimm hit a three-run home run in the first inning to spark the Auburndale softball team to a 9-2 win over Stratford in a Marawood Conference South Division game Thursday at Auburndale High School.
Hailey Grimm threw a complete game for the Eagles, striking out three and scattering six hits.
Kaitlyn Kundinger went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored, Ashlyn Grimm finished 3-for-3 and scored twice, and Georgi Schmutzer had two hits and three RBIs in the win for Auburndale (12-3, 6-2 Marawood South).
Megan Wiese had a home run and a double for Stratford (4-14, 1-9 Marawood South).
Auburndale plays a doubleheader at Edgar on Friday and a nonconference game at Chequamegon on Saturday to finish its regular-season schedule.
Stratford hosts Eau Claire Regis in its finale on Monday.
