MARSHFIELD – Wausau West scored a goal in the final minute of the first half and poured it on after that, taking down Marshfield 5-0 in Wisconsin Valley Conference girls soccer game Thursday at Heiting Community Stadium.
Erika Schneider scored in the 10th minute, then added a goal with 15 seconds to go before halftime as West grabbed a 2-0 lead at the break.
The Warriors scored four more times in the second half, all on assists from Erika Schneider, to win going away.
Ava Sainterme had three saves and Clara Allar one in goal for Marshfield, which finishes the regular season 7-7 overall and 6-6 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.
West (10-3-1, 8-3 WVC) wraps up its regular-season schedule Saturday at Stevens Point.
Marshfield earned a No. 2 seed in the bottom half of the Division 2 Sectional 1 bracket in the upcoming WIAA playoffs and will host Portage/Poynette in a regional semifinal Tuesday, June 8.
