MARSHFIELD – The Stevens Point boys and D.C. Everest girls each won 11 events to run away with the team titles at the 2021 Wisconsin Valley Conference Track & Field Meet on Tuesday at Marshfield High School.
The Stevens Point boys’ win in the program’s ninth in a row and 18th in the last 20 years. The D.C. Everest girls title is its first since 2004.
The Marshfield girls and Wausau West boys were runner-ups in the team standings. The Marshfield boys finished sixth.
The Marshfield girls won one event as the 3,200-meter relay team of Bailey Bauer, Eliana Kanitz, Meghan Jaeger and Jerica Mueller won in 10:18.27.
Sophie Nikolay was second in the pole vault (9 feet, 6 inches), Lizzie Hanson finished second in the 100 hurdles (16.43 seconds), and the 800 relay team of Leah Brown, Ellie Jensen, Tayllor Thompson and Nikolay also finished second in 1:51.82 for the Tigers.
The Marshfield boys top finish came from the 3,200 relay team of Henry Hoerneman, Graham Lonsdale, Seth Oemig and James Ketterer, which was third in 8:43.44.
Wyatt LeMoine was fourth in the long jump (20-6¼) and Jeffrey Marsh finished fourth in the 100 meters (11.76 seconds) as well for Marshfield.
Marshfield will compete in the WIAA Division 1 regional on Monday at D.C. Everest.
