STRATFORD – The Marshfield baseball team used a four-run seventh inning to slip past Stratford 6-4 in a nonconference game Wednesday at the Tiger Stadium Baseball Field.
Parker Weik hit a two-run homer, and Logan Homolka drove in a run with a single and scored on an error to provide Marshfield with the runs it needed in its final at-bat.
Simon Slade had an RBI single in the third inning and Tim Kraus knocked in a run with a single in the fourth to put Marshfield up 2-0.
Stratford responded with a three-run fifth. Kale Weisenberger had a two-out two-run double and later scored on an error.
Stratford tacked on a run in the sixth when Braeden Schueller drove in pinch runner Dane Poppy to make it 4-2 before Marshfield rallied to win.
Will Fetting earned the win for Marshfield as he was able to get out of a jam in the bottom of the seventh by forcing a ground out with two runners on.
Both teams finish its regular-season schedule Thursday. Marshfield (14-6) will host Wausau East at Safford Field at Marshfield High School in a nonconference game, while Stratford (16-3) will take on Rhinelander at the Tiger Stadium Baseball Field. Both teams will open postseason play June 15 with regional semifinals.
