MARSHFIELD – Marshfield spotted Wausau East with four runs in the top of the first inning before exploding for 10 runs of its own in the bottom half of the frame and went on to a 13-4 win over Wausau East in a nonconference baseball game Thursday at Safford Field to close out the regular season.

Isaac Coushman hit a three-run homer to put East (6-15) on top 4-0 before the Tigers got their bats going.

Adam Zee and Logan Homolka had two-run singles, and Simon Slade drove in two with a double to push Marshfield out to a 10-4 lead.

Zee had an RBI double and Slade knocked in two more with a single in a three-run second to make it 13-4.

Neither team would score over the final five innings.

Jaden Wilhelm struck out four in five innings and Cody Donahue threw a pair of shut out innings to finish off the victory for the Tigers.

Marshfield (15-6) will host Wausau West (5-13) in a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal Tuesday at Jack Hackman Field. The game begins at 4:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on zaleskisports.com.
