MARSHFIELD – Caleb Krommenakker threw a complete-game six-hit shutout as the Marshfield Chaparrals amateur baseball team blanked the Pittsville River Bandits 9-0 on Wednesday night at Jack Hackman Field.
Krommenakker struck out nine, walked one and scattered six hits to earn the win for the Chaparrals (6-4). He also had a pair of singles and an RBI in the victory.
Jason Kurth added two hits and an RBI as eight different Chaps drove in runs.
Luke Wirtz had an RBI double and Kurth drove in a run with a groundout in the first inning to put Marshfield up 2-0.
The Chaps created some breathing room in the fourth, scoring four times. Isaiah Baierl had an RBI single, Cole Hediger and Nathan Krommenakker plated runs with productive groundouts, and Baierl scored on a passed ball to make it 6-0.
Marshfield capped the scoring with a three-run eighth. Brent Ystad and Caleb Krommenakker had RBI singles, and Hunter Korger sent Ystad home with a sacrifice fly.
Marshfield will take a week off before hosting Pittsville again on Wednesday, June 30.
