GREEN BAY – Five teams earned state championships at the 2021 WIAA State Softball Tournament, which was held at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay from June 28-30.
Kaukauna (27-2) won its third Division 1 state championship, edging Sun Prairie 1-0 in the title matchup. The Ghosts have won all three times they have made it to state as this year’s title goes along with ones they won in 2010 and 2017.
Waukesha Catholic Memorial (21-9) won the Division 2 final over Baldwin-Woodville, 5-4. Catholic Memorial was making its first-ever state tournament appearance.
The Division 3 title was won by Dodgeville (28-3), which defeated Prescott 5-3 in the championship game. The title is the program’s first.
Mishicot (27-3) won the Division 4 final over Juda/Albany 6-3, also claiming its first state championship in program history.
Oakfield (25-2) finished off its sixth state title with an 8-4 victory over Hurley in the Division 5 championship. Oakfield was making its 15th state tournament appearance in all, and has also won titles in 1997, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2014.
