Stevens Point Pacelli softball player Hannah Trzinski has been voted as the MarshfieldAreaSports.com & Zaleski Sports June High School Athlete of the Month.
The High School Athlete of the Month Award main sponsor for the 2020-21 school year is Awards ‘n’ More of Wisconsin Rapids. The monthly award will continue through June 2021, and the winner of the MarshfieldAreaSports.com & Zaleski Sports High School Athlete of the Year will be announced in July.
Varsity athletes from the following high schools are eligible to be nominated for the award: Abbotsford, Assumption, Athens, Auburndale, Colby, Columbus Catholic, Edgar, Granton, Greenwood, Loyal, Marathon, Marshfield, Mosinee, Neillsville, Owen-Withee, Pacelli, Pittsville, Spencer, Stevens Point, Stratford, Thorp and Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln.
Trzinski earned nearly 639 of the 1,400 votes cast during voting from July 2-8 at MarshfieldAreaSports.com.
Other nominees for the June award were: Athens track athlete Caden Decker, Edgar baseball & track athlete Drew Guden, Marshfield softball player Loryn Jakobi and Spencer track athlete Leah Zastrow.
The Pacelli softball team won nine games in a row in June, making a run to the WIAA state tournament, and freshman pitcher Trzinski was a big reason why. She allowed one run or less in six games during the month. She did not walk a batter and gave up just two hits in a 2-0 win over Laona/Wabeno in the Division 5 sectional final. Trzinski also had a big game hitting in a 20-3 win over Nekoosa on June 7, going 2-for-4 with six RBIs and four runs scored.
This completes the Athlete of the Month series for the 2020-21 school year. In addition to Trzinski, winners of the award this year were: Marshfield Columbus Catholic soccer player Alex Edwards (September), Marshfield girls swimmer Faith Risa (October), Marshfield football player Wyatt LeMoine (November), Mosinee girls basketball player Alexis Frieboth (December), Edgar girls basketball player Makenna Guden (January), Stratford wrestler Gavin Drexler (February), the Edgar boys basketball team (March), Assumption softball player Cristin Casey (April), and Assumption softball player Ava Schill (May).
The MarshfieldAreaSports.com & Zaleski Sports Girls and Boys High School Athletes of the Year will be announced on Sunday, July 11.
