EAU CLAIRE – The Marshfield Post 54 American Legion baseball team won two more games at the Eau Claire Tournament on Saturday, defeating Winona LeJetz (Minn.) 6-4 and Eau Claire 8-3.
The Blue Devils, winners of eight games in a row, are now 8-3 overall and 4-0 in the three-day tournament at Carson Park. Marshfield will look to win the tournament title on Sunday when it takes on De Pere at 1:30 p.m.
Chase Higgins threw a complete game in the opener for Marshfield, striking out seven and allowing just three hits.
Peter Earll was 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored, and Adam Zee and Carsten Jirschele each had two hits for the Blue Devils.
Noah Grimm threw six strong innings for Marshfield in the win over Eau Claire, striking out seven. He allowed two runs in the bottom of the seventh before Chandler Schmidt came in to get the final three outs and finish off the victory.
Nick Urban had a triple and drove in two runs, and Higgins went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI for Marshfield.
Eight of the nine Marshfield starters had at least one hit and seven different players had RBIs.
