EAU CLAIRE – After winning its first four games at the Eau Claire Legion Baseball Tournament on Friday and Saturday, the Marshfield Post 54 Blue Devils saw its overall winning streak snapped at eight with a 4-2 loss to De Pere on Sunday afternoon.
Marshfield was limited to just one hit, a two-out double by Nick Urban in the second inning, by De Pere pitchers Austin Litts and Brayden Skendandore.
After De Pere scored twice in the top of the first inning, Marshfield tied it in the second. Urban started the rally with a double, Chase Higgins was hit by a pitch and Mason Pavloski walked to load the bases.
Urban and Higgins scored on an error to tie the game at 2-2.
De Pere pulled back in front with a two-run single by Skendandore in the fifth and held on from there.
Riley Bauman went the distance for Marshfield, giving up five hits, four runs and three walks while striking out two.
Marshfield will host Plover for a Wisconsin Valley Legion League game at 7 p.m. Monday at Jack Hackman Field. The game will be live at zaleskisports.com.
