WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield girls golf team finished fifth at the two-day Wisconsin Rapids Invitational, held Sunday and Monday at Ridges Golf Course.
The six-team tournament consisted of stroke play and a Ryder Cup-style tournament.
Onalaska won the meet with a score of 456, with Wausau East/West second with 459, Wisconsin Rapids third with 483, Stevens Point fourth with 490, Marshfield fifth with 510 and D.C. Everest sixth with 572.
Riley Pechinski of Stevens Point won the stroke play tournament with a score of 77, two shots ahead of Wausau East/West’s Taily Schlindwein.
Wisconsin Rapids’ Faith Cour finished fourth with an 85, Stevens Point’s Ava Frederiksen was fifth with a 93, Marshfield’s Brielle Lenz and Wausau’s Tess Brunner tied for eighth with 95s, and Ayla Trollop of Wausau was 10th with a 96 to all earn top-10 finishes.
Makenzie Holm had a 108, Ellie Mechler had a 112, Raina Manlick shot a 117 and Sophie Lee had a 125 to round out Marshfield’s scoring.
Marshfield will compete at the Rice Lake Invitational on Thursday, and the five Wisconsin Valley Conference teams will compete in the first WVC tournament of the season Friday at Crane Meadows Golf Course in Wausau.
