The Wisconsin Valley Legion League recently announced its 2021 all-league team for this past summer.
Marshfield, Plover, Stevens Point and league champion Wausau all had two players selected to the 11-player all-league team. D.C. Everest, Wisconsin Rapids and Merrill each had one player picked.
Marshfield first baseman Logan Homolka and outfielder Chase Higgins were honored. Homolka hit .404 (23-for-57) and led the Blue Devils in doubles (seven), triples (three), home runs (one), RBIs (17) and runs scored (19). Higgins batted .425 (17-for-40) with eight RBIs and eight runs scored.
Plover third baseman Kaden Thauer and outfielder Tommy Drohner were also picked to the team. Thauer batted .273 (18-for-66) with seven RBIs, and Drohner hit .395 (34-86) with 24 runs scored, 17 RBIs and five doubles.
Wausau, which went 6-1 in league play, had all-league selections in second baseman Jacob Hamman and pitcher Isaiah Piscitello. Hamman hit .333 (19 of 57) with 12 RBIs and 10 runs scored, and Piscitello went 1-3 with a 3.18 earned run average, 40 strikeouts in 33 innings pitched, and hit .347 with 16 RBIs for the Bulldogs.
Wisconsin Rapids pitcher Tyler Beyer was the other pitcher on the team after going 3-2 with a 2.26 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 40 1/3 innings pitched.
D.C. Everest catcher Tanner Graham, Stevens Point shortstop Issac Cychosz and utility player Isaiah Christianson, and Merrill outfielder Caleb DeJong rounded out the team. Statistics for those teams were not available.
