Marshfield volleyball goes 3-0 at first day of Sun Prairie Tournament

SUN PRAIRIE – The Marshfield volleyball team opened play at the Sun Prairie Invitational on Friday with three wins.

The Tigers defeated Pewaukee 16-25, 25-21, 15-13; Waupun 25-12, 25-11; and Wrightstown 25-21, 25-19, to go 3-0 in pool play at the two-day tournament.

Casey Frankland had 15 kills, Reinya Balderson set up 46 assists and added five service aces, and Elie Uphoff had 46 digs for Marshfield.

Abby Ongna had 13 kills, Caitlyn Pernsteiner had 10 kills, Rylee Corteen had nine kills, and Caitlyn Persteiner had six block kills as well for the Tigers.

“We had a great start tonight with a very balanced offensive attack,” Marshfield coach Dawn Sadowska said. “We are looking forward to the competition we will continue to see tomorrow.”

Play continues at 9 a.m. Saturday.
