COLBY – Colby scored four first-half touchdowns and went on to a 38-0 shutout win over Spencer/Columbus in a nonconference football game Saturday at Colby High School.
Caden Healy had touchdown runs of 14 and 1 yards in the first quarter, and Brent Jeske had a 14-yard TD run and threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Brody Decker in the second quarter as the Hornets built a 32-0 lead.
Colby finished off the scoring in the third, when Mason Voss scored from 1-yard out with five minutes left, sending the game to a running clock.
Brent Jekse finished with 84 rushing yards and Voss added 72 to pace the Colby offense that outgained Spencer/Columbus 351-44.
Brock Bennington had 29 rushing yards for the Rockets, which were held in check by a stout Colby defense that allowed just two first downs.
Colby (2-0) will play at Southern Door in a nonconference game Friday. Spencer/Columbus (1-1) opens Central Wisconsin Conference Large Division action at Wittenberg-Birnamwood on Friday.
