Marshfield girls golf finishes fourth at first leg of WVC tournament

MARSHFIELD – Stevens Point’s Riley Pechinski shot a 37 and led the Panthers to the team win in the first Wisconsin Valley Conference Girls Golf Tournament leg of the season on Monday at Marshfield Country Club.

Stevens Point won the team title with a score of 181, four shots better than Wausau East/West. Wisconsin Rapids was third with 190, Marshfield fourth with 204, and D.C. Everest fifth with 226.

Individual scores, other than Pechinski and Marshfield, were not reported.

Ava Frederiksen of Stevens Point was second, Talia Schlindwein and Tess Brunner of Wausau East/West took third and fourth, and Dylan Gruszynski of Wisconsin Rapids finished fifth.

Marshfield’s McKenzie Holm, Brielle Lenz, Ellie Mechler and Lili Anaya tied for 11th with 51s. Sophie Lee added a 59 for the Tigers.

The second leg of the tournament is Thursday at Trapp River Golf Course in Wausau.
