D.C. Everest outlasts Marshfield volleyball in WVC opener

SCHOFIELD – D.C. Everest earned a come-from-behind 3-2 win over Marshfield in a hard-fought Wisconsin Valley Conference volleyball match Thursday at D.C. Everest High School.

The Evergreens won the WVC opener for both teams 25-17, 22-25, 18-25, 25-21, 15-11.

“It’s a tough way to start conference play, losing in five, but it will hopefully be motivation to improve on the things we need to improve,” Marshfield coach Dawn Sadowska said. “Fans saw a lot of good volleyball tonight.”

Casey Frankland had 15 kills, Abby Ongna and Caitlyn Pernsteiner each had 14 kills, and setter Reinya Balderson had 46 assists for Marshfield.

Ongna had 19 digs, Elise Uphoff added 18 digs, and Rylee Corteen had four blocks to lead the Tigers’ defensively.
