WAUSAU – Wausau East/West grabbed the team title at the second leg of the Wisconsin Valley Conference Girls Golf Tournament on Thursday at Tribute Golf Course.
East/West had three of the top nine finishers and a team total of 166, defeating the winner of the first leg of the tournament, Stevens Point, by nine shots. Wisconsin Rapids was third with a 178, D.C. Everest fourth with a 196, and Marshfield fifth with a 204.
Stevens Point’s Riley Pechinski continued her hot play this fall by taking medalist honors again with a sizzling 34, three shots ahead of Wausau’s Tess Bruner. Talia Schlindwein was third with a 40 and Ayla Trollop tied Marshfield’s Lili Anaya for eighth with a 44 to lead Wausau to the team win.
Dylan Gruszynski and Faith Cour both shot 42 to tie for fifth to lead Wisconsin Rapids.
Raina Manlick had a 50, Ellie Mechler a 53, McKenzie Holm a 57, and Brielle Lenz a 61 to round out Marshfield’s scoring.
The third leg of the tournament is Friday at Stevens Point Country Club.
