Lenz ties for 13th as Marshfield girls golf takes fifth at WVC meet

MARSHFIELD – Stevens Point won the team title behind medalist Riley Pechinski at the fifth leg of the seven-meet Wisconsin Valley Conference Girls Golf Tournament on Friday at Marshfield Country Club.

Pechinski shot a 35 to lead the Panthers to their third win in five WVC meets with a total score of 169. SPASH is now in sole possession of first in the overall standings.

Wausau East/West was second with a 181, Wisconsin Rapids third with a 192, D.C. Everest fourth with a 205, and host Marshfield fifth with a 207.

Brielle Lenz finished in a four-way tie for eighth with a 47 to lead Marshfield. She now stands in 13th in the overall tournament standings.

Ellie Mechler and McKenzie Holm both had a 51s, and Lily Anaya and Raina Manlick each shot 56 for the Tigers.

The sixth leg will be Sept. 17 at Trapp River Golf Course in Wausau, with the final leg on Sept. 22 at Pine Valley Golf Course in Marathon, which will serve as a make-up for the original first leg that was postponed on Aug. 27.
