MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic soccer team remained unbeaten in the Central Wisconsin Conference after a 4-0 victory over Wausau Newman Catholic on Thursday at Griese Park.

Alex Edwards scored a pair of breakaway goals and assisted on another as the Dons improve to 6-1-1 overall and 4-0 in the CWC.

Edwards scored off an assist from Cy Becker in the 26th minute and Brandon Lang nailed home a penalty kick in the 31st minute to push the Dons to a 2-0 lead by halftime.

Edwards scored again, on a pass from Mira Torbey, at the 57:58 mark, and assisted on a goal by Charlie Moore nine minutes later to finish off the victory.

Lucas Kreklau made five saves in goal for Columbus Catholic, including three from close range in the second half.

Columbus Catholic will have a week off before playing at Amherst on Thursday, Sept. 23.
