WAUSAU – The Marshfield girls golf team had its best finish of the Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament series by placing third at the sixth leg on Friday at Trapp River Golf Course.
Stevens Point wrapped up the conference title by taking first for the fourth time in six meets with a score of 178. Wisconsin Rapids was second with a 184 and Marshfield third with a 189.
Riley Pechinski of Stevens Point shot a front nine course record of 32 to win meet medalist honors and clinch the individual conference title.
Faith Cour of Wisconsin Rapids and Marshfield’s Brielle Lenz tied for second with 41s, and Wausau East/West’s Tess Bruner and Wisconsin Rapids’ Dylan Gruszynski tied for fourth.
Ellie Mechler had a 48, McKenzie Holm shot a 49, Raina Manlick had a 51 and Lily Anaya had a 54 to round out the scoring for Marshfield.
The final leg of the seven-meet tournament will be Thursday at Crane Meadows Golf Course in Wausau.
