APPLETON – The Marshfield volleyball team finished third at the 12-team Appleton East Patriot Invitational on Saturday.
Marshfield went 2-0 in pool play, defeating Ashwaubenon 25-9, 25-8, and Little Chute 25-21, 25-16. The Tigers lost to Appleton East in the semifinals, 26-28, 25-13, 15-8, before coming back to defeat Green Bay Notre Dame in the third-place match 25-21, 25-16.
Abby Ongna had 28 kills and 20 digs, Casey Frankland had 25 kills, Reinya Balderson had 76 assists and six service aces, and Elise Uphoff had 27 digs in Marshfield’s four matches. Caitlyn Pernsteiner added 21 kills and Rylee Corteen eight blocks for the Tigers.
Marshfield will host Wausau East for a Wisconsin Valley Conference match on Thursday.
