Columbus Catholic soccer clinches Central Wisconsin Conference title with shutout of Gresham/Bowler

MARSHFIELD – Alex Edwards had four goals and Grant Olson added a pair as the Columbus Catholic soccer team rolled to an 8-0 win over Gresham/Bowler on Monday at Griese Park, clinching the Central Wisconsin Conference championship.

The Dons remain perfect in conference play at 8-0 (10-1-1 overall) with two CWC games remaining – Thursday at home against Stevens Point Pacelli and Monday at Wausau Newman Catholic.

Edwards scored just 1:57 into the game to get the ball rolling for the Dons, who never let up.

Sammy Neville, Olson, and Josh Van Wyhe added goals before Edwards had two more scores before halftime as Columbus Catholic built a 6-0 lead.

Olson scored 13 seconds into the second half and Edwards finished off the scoring with a goal in the 52nd minute for the Dons.

Lucas Kreklau had six saves and Neville had one as they combined for the shutout in goal for Columbus Catholic.

Nathan Nemitz and Olson each had a pair of assists, and Neville and Edwards also had one for the Dons.
