AUBURNDALE – The Marathon volleyball team clinched the outright Marawood Conference South Division championship with a 3-0 sweep of Auburndale on Tuesday night at Auburndale High School.

Marathon won 25-20, 25-16, 25-16.

Marta Almendra had eight kills, Josie Ertl had seven kills and nine digs, Ashlyn Grimm had 16 assists and 12 digs, and Maggie Baltus added 10 digs for Auburndale.

Marathon finishes the Marawood South schedule unbeaten at 5-0, while Auburndale ends up 1-4.

Marathon statistics were not provided.

Auburndale will play a nonconference match at Tigerton on Thursday before competing at the Edgar Invitational on Saturday. Marathon will be at Stevens Point Pacelli on Thursday.
