NECEDAH – The sixth-seeded Auburndale football team took to the road for its WIAA Division 6 Level 1 playoff game and demolished No. 3 seed Necedah 63-32 on Friday night at Necedah High School.
After each team scored a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter and the game was tied 14-14, Auburndale put up four touchdowns in the second quarter to take control 42-20 by halftime.
“We started kind of slow but by the end of the first quarter we definitely picked up the pace and got things going,” Auburndale coach Jay Anderson said.
Auburndale piled up 517 total yards, 369 coming on the ground.
Quarterback Trayton Weber had 180 yards rushing and scored three touchdowns, and was 7-for-8 passing for another 148 yards and three scores.
Alex Willfahrt caught four passes for 100 yards and two long touchdowns of 45 and 26 yards, Evan School added 83 yards rushing, and Terrance Roberson ran for another 79 yards and two touchdowns for the Eagles (9-3).
Auburndale moves on to a Level 2 matchup at No. 2 seed Markesan (9-2) on Friday, Oct. 29.
