MARSHFIELD – Columbus Catholic made 7 of 8 free throws in the second half to hold off Colby, winning 44-35 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division girls basketball game Tuesday night at Columbus Catholic High School.
The Dons are now 2-0 overall after winning their Cloverbelt East opener. Colby falls to 1-2 and 1-1 in conference play.
Hailey Zimmermann scored 11 points, making all four of her free throw attempts in the second half, to lead Columbus Catholic. Jenna Kibbel and Lily Stratman each added nine points in the victory.
Kya Viegut had 11 points and Brett Schmitt 10 for Colby.
Columbus Catholic will play Shawano in the opening round of the Cranberry Classic at Wisconsin Rapids Assumption High School on Friday at 11:30 a.m. The game will be live-streamed at zaleskisports.com.
Colby’s next game is at Thorp on Nov. 30.
