Marshfield boys hockey dominates Medford to win season opener

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield boys hockey team opened its 2021-22 season in grand fashion, blowing past Medford 10-2 in a nonconference game Tuesday at the Marshfield Ice Arena.

Medford led 2-1 after the first period before Marshfield turned on the jets, scoring nine unanswered goals to win going away.

Payton Smith netted a hat trick, and Ian Sennholz and Triston Reisssmann each added a pair of goals for the Tigers.

Cole Halversen made nine saves in goal for Marshfield.

Marshfield will play La Crescent (Minn.) in the opening round of the Tomah Invitational on Friday.
