Columbus Catholic boys basketball cruises past Spencer in Cloverbelt East opener

SPENCER – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball team ran its record to 3-0 with a 79-51 win over Spencer in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division opener for both teams on Friday night at Spencer High School.

The Dons pulled out to a 31-18 lead by halftime and were able to put up 48 points in the second half to keep Spencer at bay.

Emmitt Konieczny and Blake Jakobi each scored 16 points, Sam Wilczek had 11 points, and Cole Noreen added 10 for Columbus Catholic.

Kaleb Brandt finished with 22 points for Spencer, which drops to 0-2 overall.

Both teams return to action Monday with nonconference road games. Columbus Catholic will play at Auburndale and Spencer will travel to Stratford. The Spencer-Stratford game will be live-streamed at zaleskisports.com.
