Stratford girls basketball downs Prentice for first win of season

STRATFORD – Lauren Kraus had 13 points and eight rebounds to lead the Stratford girls basketball team to its first win of the season, a 50-42 victory over Prentice in a Marawood Conference crossover game Friday night at Stratford High School.

Eight different Tigers scored in a balanced attack, with Kalyn Schueller adding eight points, and Ella Heidmann and Sailor Kauffman each chipping in six.

Stratford improves to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in the Marawood South this season.

Mallory Burcaw scored 18 points for Prentice (1-5, 1-3 Marawood North).

Stratford plays at Marathon on Tuesday.
