Marathon uses second-half push to knock off Stratford girls basketball

MARATHON – Marathon outscored Stratford by 16 to pull away and win a Marawood Conference South Division girls basketball game on Tuesday 58-38.

Marathon is now 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the Marawood South, while Stratford falls to 1-4 and 1-3 in conference play.

Marathon led 30-26 at halftime before outscoring the Tigers 28-12 in a decisive second-half run.

Allison Wokatsch scored 17 points and Kali Prihoda added 12 for Marathon.

Stratford, which shot just 29 percent (15-for-52), was led by Lauren Kraus and Lexie Christoperson, who had eight points each. Kraus also had a team-high 14 rebounds.

Stratford will play a nonconference game at the Spencer Dome on Thursday and a Marawood Conference crossover game at Athens on Friday.
